What is Google Workspace?

Google Workspace is a transformative effort which is proof that necessity is the mother of invention. On the surface, Google Workspace sounds like another ordinary rebranding effort, but it is much more than that. It is a response to the reflective changes in the workplace that highlights the flexibility that has become the new normal as more employees are working from home and working remotely.

What has changed?

Google Workspace, formally G-Suite has debuted new icons for its services, most notably Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Meet. These new icons lead their efforts in creating a new brand identity and highlights a significantly interconnected experience with all their services. That connection of services begins to erase the division between them as collaboration and communication becomes the focal point of this experience.

The user experience has led to the creation of a unified workspace (pun intended) to allow access to the tools necessary to remain productive. Features, such as, chat, email, and content integration are used facilitate a remote working environment. The sharing of content with others increases the transparency in the creation process with internal and external audiences. Highlighted in the slide show below, Google Meet has implemented a picture in picture (PIP) feature in their collaborative tools to increase how people interact beyond the use of notes on a page. Visual interactions with team members during a project are extremely valuable when deliberating the direction of the workflow.

In addition to their rebranding efforts and evolving features in their premier services, Google has also reevaluated their packaging tiers.
